Chef Randy’s love for food began when he was in high school, as he worked in the kitchens of a few local restaurants after school and on the weekends. This invaluable experience eventually led Randy to obtain a degree in Culinary Arts from Ivy Technical Institute in 1989. From there, he would go on to become the chef at many prestigious nationally and locally based restaurants such as Café Borgia (Lansing, IL), Maple Tree Inn (Blue Island, IL) and Ciao Bella (Schererville, IN). As the Executive Chef at Ciao Bella for the past 3 ½ years, Randy helped brand and deliver a critically acclaimed, up-scale menu, while providing each and every guest with an unparalleled dining experience.

Looking to showcase his skills to a broader audience, Chef Randy sought out to partner with a more established brand with a proven track history of steady growth. Gino’s Steakhouse, with locations in Dyer and Merrillville, Indiana, turned out to be the perfect fit for the type of partnership Chef Randy was seeking. As the owners of multiple restaurants in Northwest Indiana (Gino’s Steakhouse, Jelly Pancake House, Bullpen Luxury Bar and Grill, Longshots, Gelsosomo’s Pizza Cedar Lake, Schererville and Highland, Buddy and Pals Winfield and Three Greeks Gyros), the Gino’s Corporation was delighted to bring a chef on board that could add an enormous value to the company in many ways.

In addition to overseeing and preparing Gino’s popular fine dining menu, Chef Randy will be adding his own twist. Beginning in June, Chef Randy will host a “Dinner & Wine with Chef Randy” event every month at Gino’s Merrillville on their brand new outdoor patio. For one all-inclusive price, guests will enjoy four courses, paired with four wines, prepared by Chef Randy himself. In addition, Chef Randy will be holding cooking demonstrations, on a monthly basis, beginning in the fall of 2013. Guests will not only be able to taste the dishes he prepares, but they will also receive the recipes and learn how to prepare them on their own.

These types of interactive experiences are what set Chef Randy apart from most other culinary experts. He thrives on customer interaction, and he feels that customer feedback is the only way he will continue to grow. On any given night he is working, you will find Chef Randy personally greeting his tables and ensuring each meal is prepared to his guest’s satisfaction.
